New Development:
East Village to Replace Parking Lane with $3.8M Greenway- San Diego is transforming the parking lane on the east side of 14th Street (between Market and Island Streets) into a $3.8 million greenway, part of an effort to make downtown streets more pedestrian-friendly. The project, which began in March 2023, will widen the sidewalk by 14 feet, removing three parking spaces to add trees, family-friendly amenities, a rocking bench, and ADA ramps. This new greenway follows the success of an earlier greenway project and aims to connect pedestrian spaces with parks and neighborhoods, promoting outdoor activity. The project is funded by a combination of the city's downtown FAR bonus fund and grant money.
Pacifica Companies Purchases Miramar Landing for $30.6 Million- Pacifica Companies has purchased the 10-acre Miramar Landing shopping center and an adjacent office building for $30.6 million, signaling a major shift for the area. The property, located at 8990 Miramar Road, was rezoned in 2023 to allow for housing as part of the Mira Mesa Community Plan. The site is now zoned for up to 1,000 residential units, retail, and office space, with plans to transform the area into a pedestrian-friendly urban village. This move follows similar trends in the area, as other developers also pursue housing projects nearby.
